Speech Language Pathologist Assistant (PRN)

Come work for a Home Health company that really does “feels like family”! The Speech Caboose has been in business for over 13 years.

The Speech Pathologist/Audiologist Assistant is a qualified professional person who provides speech therapy services to patients in the home as prescribed by the attending physician. This is an hourly position that could easily grow to a full-time job!

Qualifications

  • At least a Bachelor’s degree at an ASHA accredited school in Speech Language Pathology Assistants
  • One (1) full year of supervised work experience preferred
  • Licensure or certification by the state of Texas as an SLPA
  • Professional Insurance
  • Current CPR accredited by American Heart Association and American Red Cross

Special Requirements

  • Reliable transportation
  • Must have a car with current insurance coverage
  • Valid state driver’s license

Some of the Responsibilities include

  • Plans activities and provides therapeutic services for speech and language disorders
  • Records type of treatment and patient’s reaction to it on clinical/progress notes, which are written on the day of the visit and incorporated in the patient’s record weekly.
  • Maintains adequate records on all patient’s, including summary reports
  • Be supervised by an SLP as follows: Minimum of two hours per week (1 hour direct, on site and 1 hour indirect). Follow guidelines for supervision as outlined by the State Board for Speech Language Pathology & Audiology.
  • Attends case conferences as requested
  • Confirms, on a weekly basis, the scheduling of visits with the Patient Care Coordinator and/or ST Supervisor to coordinate necessary visits with other personnel
  • Participates with staff, supervising SLP, patient, and physician in discharge planning activities and completes the speech therapy discharge summary within the designated framework of the Agency policies.
